How do you spot fake followers? (And some method i use)

So i understood that in this period one of the biggest problem in the instagram influencer market is fake followers.
I bought fake followers on some of my old accounts, i won't lie, and i still think it's a good method to get some social proof at the start and boost the follow back ratio when following/unfollowing, but i never went beyond the 2000-3000 followers at the start. In no way i support people that buy hundreds of thousands of fake followers and likes and then sell shoutouts.
